Novi Sad's main railway station has not taken passengers since November 2024. Trains stop in two places: at the new TPS Novi Sad stop on Rumenački put, in the north-west of the city, and at Petrovaradin station across the Danube. Below: where they are, how to get from them to the centre and how to travel between Novi Sad and Belgrade. The trips in the tables come from the timetable and are updated every day.

What happened to Novi Sad railway station
The station on Bulevar Jaše Tomića linked Novi Sad with Belgrade, Subotica and other cities. The building reopened after a reconstruction in July 2024; on 1 November 2024 the concrete canopy over its entrance collapsed and 16 people died (BBC News in Serbian, Radio Free Europe). The station has been closed to passengers since.
Trains started stopping at Petrovaradin. City buses ran from there to the centre, free trips from the station to Šafarikova street among them; those ended on 12 October 2026 (Ozon). The intercity bus station next to the old railway station is open: buses to Belgrade and other cities leave from there.

The new TPS Novi Sad stop on Rumenački put
TPS Novi Sad opened to passengers on 7 October 2026, at the roundabout on Rumenački put, about 4 km from the centre as the crow flies. Since 12 October the Belgrade – Novi Sad – Subotica trains run to a new schedule (Srbijavoz).
The stop has a car park (43 paved spaces, 4 of them for taxis, and 103 more on gravel), 46 bicycle stands and an underpass beneath the tracks. Tickets bought to or from Petrovaradin are valid to or from TPS Novi Sad as well (Srpske).
How to get from the new TPS station to Novi Sad centre
There are two city bus stops next to it: “Rumenački put – Železnička stanica” right by the platform and “Rumenački put – Kružni tok za NS” at the roundabout, a couple of minutes on foot. Line 4 (towards Liman 4, along Bulevar Mihajla Pupina next to Trg slobode) and line 14S (to Uspenska street by Pozorišni trg, the theatre square) go straight to the centre. Lines 5, 14, 41, 42 and 43 also call there (Srpske).

Petrovaradin station: the other option
Petrovaradin is on the right bank of the Danube, across from Novi Sad centre. All Soko trains between Belgrade and Subotica stop here, as well as Regio and Regio Express trains from Belgrade, Šid and Sremska Mitrovica (Srbijavoz). It is closer to Petrovaradin Fortress, Liman and the south of the city.
